White Composite Fillings

In the past, silver amalgam fillings were the standard of care for restoring decayed back teeth. While very strong and long lasting, they have no cosmetic benefit, require more tooth structure to be removed for placement, and many patients have concerns with the mercury content within this material. As materials have improved, advances in tooth colored restorative materials have allowed us to repaired decayed teeth with tooth colored composite materials that are color matched and bonded to the tooth as an alternative to silver amalgam. Advances in composite technology continue to improve the strength and longevity of these materials, allowing them to be the first choice for restoring decay throughout the mouth.
